During the years of World War II (1939-1944) thousands of people crossed the Pyrenees fleeing persecution in Nazi-occupied Europe. The “Persecuted and Saved” routes highlight the values of cross-border spaces and roads as cultural and memorial itineraries with the aim of spreading the role of this territory as a place of escape for the persecuted during the Second World War, through mountain passes. We offer you to discover this history through 5 routes of different modalities and duration, on foot or in 4x4, that pass through the ports of the Valls d'Àneu, the Vall de Cardós and the Vall Farrera in the middle of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park.
